Troubleshooting

  • If you find you are applying many coats and still not getting the coverage you like, several things might be wrong and the following should be checked …
    (1) You might need a concealer or cover up mineral powder in addition to your foundation. These generally give thicker coverage ...
    (2) You might need a different brush. Cheap brushes just won't give you good coverage. You need a thick, luscious kabuki brush for excellent coverage.
  • If your face looks chalky or made up ... You might need to choose a darker shade of makeup. You might be applying too much foundation. Apply thin, light layers, and stay away from wrinkly areas as much as possible (around the eyes, nose and mouth)...You might not be buffing enough. Buff, Buff, Buff away. The more you buff, the smoother and creamier the makeup will look.
  • If Your foundation looks too Orange You might have a foundation shade that is too dark. Go lighter or try mixing in a lighter shade to just barely adjust your current shade. You might have a shade that is too warm or beige for you (yellow-toned). Go for a more natural, neutral, rose, cool or pink shade of makeup.
  • Large pores ... common complaint! To cover large pores, just take a flat concealer brush and after applying your makeup, just smooth it flat in one direction by sweeping your concealer brush over the problem areas. Stipple more mineral foundation onto the area with your concealer brush (meaning: do little taps with your brush held perpendicular to your face), if need be, then smooth out again.
  • Skin looks either dull or too shiny... Your foundation will have a certain finish to it. Some are shiny, others are matte and others like mine, are in between. Choose your favorite based on the look you want. To correct the shininess or dullness of your mineral foundation, you can also applying a finishing powder. Use a matte finisher to soak up oil and give a smooth, flat finish. For a more dewy, shimmery look, simply dust on some shimmer powder.
  • Itching skin from wearing the foundation ... Bismuth oxychloride has been known to be the cause of skin itch or irritation including break outs of the skin... if your foundation contains this, it might be the culprit. Switch to a bismuth-free brand. I do not use Bismuth, Paragens, Fragrances or Talcs in my products! Nobody knows your skin like you do, so nobody can pick out the perfect shade and type as best as good as you!
  • The Purpose of eye makeup is to balance the shape of the eyes, thereby creating beautiful eyes. Using a brush choose a light neutral base eye shadow color and apply to the entire eye as far up as the brow.
    • Using the same brush add a medium neutral color in the crease and up on the brow bone. Avoid going all the way up to the brow.
    • Choose a complimentary color for your eyes and apply over the medium neutral applied in the last step.
    • Apply eyeliner. Line the upper lid beginning at the outer corner of the eye and working toward the inner corner. Avoid going in too close to the nose. Then line the lower lash line starting at the outside corner and lining about half way. Avoid lining the lower inner lids. This will make your eyes appear smaller.
    • Curl the eyelashes and apply mascara to upper lashes and lower lashes. Comb lashes to separate.
  • Before applying color it is best to have a light coat of foundation and powder over lips to help lipstick last longer. Keeping lips relaxed, outline your natural lip line with a brush or pencil starting at the outer corners and working towards the center.
    • Fill in with lip color and finish off with a little lip gloss placed in the center of the lips.
